Below is an assortment of Climbing Black Bears that Jeff has carved. Each one has a little different expression and slight changes in posture. They are cut / designed to fit onto any square corner and often fit surprisingly well on smaller diameter trees as well. Climbing Black Bears are perfect for adding a touch of wildlife to outdoor spaces like porch railings & support posts, entryway trusses, any place that you want to add some fun. They are easy to hang with just two timber screws designed with a square connection point. The Climbing Black Bears weigh anywhere from 20lbs to 30lbs. Â
I have carved climbing black bears for many specialized locations over the years. I carved this custom cabinet bear for a client who had a custom cabinet made, and wanted a bear cub sitting on top of the cabinet with it sorta leaning over the edge. The title says mantel, which it most certainly could be, but its titled mantel for SEO reasons 🙂 Another project I did a couple years back was for a client who wanted a black bear carved to fit on top of a garden fence. You can see it here . This was a perfect place to walk out and enjoy this little cub on a casual stroll to tend their garden. One more that comes to mind, was a client that had an outdoor gazebo with large rustic beams and a beautiful timer truss. The bear was carved to lean up against the center “king” post and his head was turned looking downward, while its leg was draped over the edge. Its actually one of my favorites… I’ll do my best to find an image to share with you, somehow it slipped out without being photographed. Unfortunately, Not all of my sculptures make it on my website due to timing, Photo image quality etc.. If you have any questions at all or want a custom carving, just reach out and we can kick the tires together and come up with something really unique.
